Hotel accommodation is plentiful across the region and something of a tradition. Whether in a town, village or the coast, there is a hotel to suit just about everyone. Much of the regional hotel accommodation has now, thanks in no small part to the introduction of 'new blood', been brought up-to-date. Fresh new colour schemes and decors - whilst sympathetic to the old - have brought colour and crispness to many an old hotel. The introduction of the no-smoking ban (whilst not popular with many) has also done much to improve the overall ambience of many a hotel.

Ranging from small, family run hotels to large scale castles for private hire, all are generally very well furnished and equipped. They offer good surroundings, a warm welcome and local knowledge.

Hotel accommodation makes for an relaxing break or overnight stay. Prices are usually keen, and out of season there are usually plenty of special offers (such as stay three nights, pay for two) available.

Most of the hotels in this section have their own restaurant or bistro area, ranging from intimate to grand. All will have a range of malts and beers for their lounge bar, (often with 'guest' beers and lagers) and most will have a fairly extensive wine list.

Here's a few for starters:

Annandale Arms Hotel, Moffat. If you are just visiting Moffat or are here on business you will find the Annandale Arms Hotel right in the centre of town. A few minutes from the Moffat turn off Junction15 of the M74/M6 motorway, discover a small, smart family run hotel that offers a level of comfort and service that is hard to equal. With just sixteen bedrooms it retains an intimate atmosphere and yet has been the focus of Moffat town centre since 1760.

The Lochinvar Hotel,   is situated in the historic village of St. Johns Town of Dalry, in the tranquil surroundings of the Glenkens. Adjacent to the Galloway Forest National Park this 17 bedroom family run hotel offers 2 bars, restaurant, tea room, function suite, meeting room, beer garden and large car park.

The Harbour House Hotel & Bistro, Portpatrick. Family run hotel accommodation in the heart of Portpatrick, beside the busy harbour.
