Self Catering holiday cottage accommodation is plentiful across the region. Found all across the area in locations a diverse as forests, hillsides, beaches, villages and edge-of-town locations. The cottages are usually furnished to a high standard, fully equipped for modern life yet retaining their charm and character. All offer a chance to get away from it all yet retain that feeling of independence. Holiday cottage accommodation makes for a great way to unwind and relax, whilst retaining creature comforts such as one would find at home. Most are equipped with colour TV, kitchen appliances, central heating, BBQ equipment, some even offer DVD and internet connectivity. Prices are usally keen, but out of season there are usually plenty of special offers (such as stay four nights, pay for three) available. High season prices can range from fairly expensive to very expensive (depending on the type of cottage and it's location.). Shop around for the latest prices, availability and discounts. During the summer, many of our villages actually have more going on than some of the towns do - Portpatrick (in the west) and Moffat (in the east) being two great examples of lively summer villages with lots of galas, events, shows and fayres happening almost every week!
